Today, Tracy and I hit the trails for the first time this season. It was actually our first time on cross-country skis since we moved here. Usually there is better downhill skiing (higher altitudes) than cross-country around here because you need to be pretty high in the mountains to get good snow. This week, however, we got a great snowfall early and low in the mountains. Because the snow was so low, we were able to try a National Forest hiking trail about 50 miles from our house. We had to cut our own trail, but it was free, virtually people-free, and we could bring Benson. We stopped and ate lunch at a beautiful stream. We had a great time.
