Colima, Mexico

Tracy and I will soon be leaving again to go down to the orphanage in Mexico to help with a construction project. I think this is our 6th or 7th trip down there. We are going with a team of about 20 Michiganders and will be working on bricking the second floor of the teenage boys' sleeping quarters. Last year we bricked the first floor. Below is a four-minute video with the highlights from last year's trip if you haven't seen it before.

Fun Facts about the the Ophanage in Colima:
Ophanage Name: The Home Of Love and Protection For Children (Hogar de Amor Y Protección al Niño)
Number of Kids: About 105 (last I checked)
Number of Homes: Nine different homes/buildings housing children
Main Sponsor of Orphanage: Grupo Amor de México, a Christian Church in Colima
About the Kids: Most of the children have parents who are either in prison or on the streets. The parents have not relinquished rights, so the children are not adoptable.
Why we Keep Going Back: The kids, the fellowship with the team and the adults at the orphanage, and because it is what we are called to do: "If anyone considers himself religious and yet does not keep a tight rein on his tongue, he deceives himself and his religion is worthless. Religion that God our Father accepts as pure and faultless is this: to look after orphans and widows in their distress and to keep oneself from being polluted by the world." James 1: 26-27
