In 1998, Tracy took me out to Oregon and the Cascade mountains for the first time. We visited waterfalls, camped in the mountains, and then drove down the coast. It was a great trip. At the time, I never thought I could get up the courage to actually move close to them! This week, Tracy and I went to a restaurant about ten miles from our house, called McManimins. We were so excited to find a McManimins near Everett. I had a beer called the Pickled Weasel. It was very yummy. I actually had TWO!
McManimins is a Oregn/Washington company that has a unique mix of microbrew, hotels, a distillery, and even small quaint movie theaters in the hotels. The first time we visited a McMenamins was in 1998 on my debut trip to Oregon . We visited their Edgefield location near Portland, and sat in their Little Red Shed for hours with Tracy's friend Steve (you may remember him from our wedding) from the University of Oregon. It was so much fun. It is an old chicken coop that they turned into a cigar, scotch, and port bar.
We sat next to the fire and ate peanuts. It is such a great memory for us, Tracy and I often talk of building a Little Red Shed in our back yard as a studio/respite.Check out the McMenamins website. Their Edgefield location would be an awesome vacation spot.
