New Slow Cooker

I know this is a boring post, being about slow cookers and all, but I have to admit that I am pretty excited about my latest purchase. We have had a small slow cooker for years, but it was always too small for big roasts or even for making turkey soup after Thanksgiving. So we decided to upgrade to a six quart cooker.

I did tons of research to find just the right cooker. I really wanted the seven quarti Kitchen Aid, but there were a lot of reviews that the ceramic crock would crack on the autoshift mode. All Clad also has a pretty nice programmable cooker, but with limited features. We ended up going with a Hamilton Beach primarily because it offered both programmable features along with a temperature probe auto-cook feature. It makes sure that the internal temp of the meat reaches the USDA cooking recommendations. The cooker also has a locking lid for travel.

Our first roast was beef surrounded by potatoes and onions. It was wonderful!
