These are the Daves I know...

This is a "small world" story. I'll try to make it short without leaving out the important details.

My sister Tonie who lives near Traverse City worked once a year with a guy named Dave. Tonie coordinated the production of the medals for the VASA cross country ski race, and Dave was the race coordinator. Well, one day, Dave told Tonie that he was moving away and that she would have a different race contact in the future. When she asked him "to where?," he said "Everett, Washington."

So last December, Dave came out with a car load full of stuff to Everett. His wife, Sandee, was going to stay back and sell the house, while Dave started his new job out here. He brought only the essentials to get by. I contacted him prior to his trip out and offered to let him stay with us until he found an apartment. His stay was short; but we had an opportunity to give him a warm Northwest welcome.

Since then, he has purchased a home, and is still waiting to tie up the loose ends in Traverse City. Their house is still for sale, but they are optimistic that they will be together soon.

Here is a photo from this weekend. Dave had a thank you dinner at his house. It was great fun and the food was wonderful. We brought a bottle of wine, but forgot the corkscrew. Good thing Tracy is handy. And we had to improvise for the dining room table! A cardboard box. Dave sat on a cooler. ha!
