Don't Do Me Any Favas Please

Tracy and I get a produce basket weekly through a CSA (community supported agriculture) program. The basket, through Pike Place in Seattle, is delivered to my work every Wednesday. The basket is filled with whatever is currently in season here in Washington -- fruits and veggies. Lately, we have been getting a lot of Fava Beans. I have been trying to be creative on what to do with the hugungus pods every time I get them. They are a lot of work. They are the size of a banana, and you shell them, then you have to blanch the beans, and then they get peeled again to get the meat out of the center of the bean.
I have made a Fava Bean Hummus with sundried tomatoes. I made a green bean and blue cheese salad with them, and I have cooked them with butter and salt. In Silence of the Lambs, Hannibal Lecter commented on how much he enjoyed Favas... "A census taker once tried to test me. I ate his liver with some fava beans and a nice Chianti." (click on the link to get the full FLAVOR)

I think I need a break from Favas. Hopefully I'll get some corn or cucumbers this week. Or maybe I'll just buy a nice steak!
