Supraspinatus Tendinopathy

Are you ergonomically correct while you are looking at this computer screen? Probably not. I actually thought I was immune to workplace injuries, until I started developing pain in my right should a couple months ago. I racked my brain thinking about some activity or incident that may have injured it, but nothing came to mind. It was a pretty abrupt onset, but wasn't associated to any particular event. And boy, it hurt.

I asked someone in the employee health office at work if it could be from using my computer. When they looked at where my mouse was located (a long reach across my desk), they were not surprised. So I had an MRI, which showed something called Supraspinatus Tendinopathy with mild subdeltoid bursitis and a possible tear in my rotator cuff. Can you believe it? I have been in Physical Therapy for several weeks now, and I am starting to get some range of motion back, but it will require some time and rehab.

My office moved to a new location after my "diagnosis," so I was sure to set up a compliant work station with an ergonomically adjustable Herman Miller Mirra Chair. So far, so good.

Ouch! At least you have a good chair now.
